Licensing

The Licensing Act 2003 has established a single integrated scheme for licensing premises. Under its provisions, a single Premises Licence can permit premises to be used to supply alcohol, to provide regulated entertainment and to provide refreshment late at night.  The Act lists four licensable activities that are to be regulated by the Act’s provisions. These are:
  • The retail sale of alcohol
  • The supply of alcohol by clubs
  • The provision of regulated entertainment
  • The provision of late night refreshment
Any or all of these activities may be carried out under any one of:
  • A Premises Licence
  • A Temporary Event Notice or
  • A Club Premises Certificate
