General Information

Durham County Council Education in the Community Service operates a policy of remitted fees for learners who are on Means Tested Benefits.

Courses are free for those aged 16 - 18 years.

Course fees are currently charged at £1.80 per learner hour (ie £36 for a 10 week course of 2 hours per session)

Remitted Fees will apply to people receiving the following income based benefits:

• Disabled Persons Tax Credit
• Incapacity Benefit
• Severe Disablement Allowance
• Income Support
• Working Tax Credit
• Housing/Council Tax Benefit
• Pension Credit,
  
• Unwaged Dependant of those listed above
• Asylum Seekers

Evidence of the above will be required at enrolment. A flat rate of £5.50 will be levied for this remitted group for all courses.
