The Village
Cockfield is an old mining village close to the town of Bishop Auckland. Parts of the village are a Conservation Area and it is close to Cockfield Fell which boasts a rich historic past with early settlements going back to the Roman Times.

The Hall

The centre was formally a United Reformed Church dating from 1898 consisting of a main church building. In 1997 a ground floor extension was constructed to the rear of the property to form a small dining room, kitchen and to provide additional toilets.
The size and layout of Cockfield Community Centre make it an ideal choice for private and business functions.

The hall is available for hire for:

• Sports Classes
• Fairs and Sales
• Social Events

Regular activities ongoing in the hall include parish council meetings, Ultimate Combat and salsa.

Heating: Available throughout hall

Maximum Capacity: 100 in main hall, 17 on stage, 20 in kitchen

Facilities: The village hall has modern IT facilities with internet connection and disabled access equipment. The kitchen facilities include fridge, freezer, microwave and cooker. There are also toilet facilities accessible to all.

Equipment: There are adequate chairs and tables and ample crockery and cutlery is available. The hall also has stage lighting making it ideal for performances and has excellent cinema equipment and PowerPoint facilities.

Parking: No designated car park but roadside parking available.

Access: A ramped access is provided up the west side of the building, accessing the new dining area. There is also a hearing aid induction loop and paintwork suitable for visually impaired people.

Directions

From Barnard Castle take the A688 towards Bishop Auckland. After passing Raby Castle take a left turn at the top of the hill. Take the next right which will take you into Cockfield and the village hall is straight ahead at the junction.
